Drilling Riser Buoyancy Modules

Drilling riser buoyancy module (DRBM) is made of a composite syntactic foam protected by a multi-functional skin system. It can withstand high hydrostatic pressure while retaining low density, low water absorption, and good impact resistance. In offshore drilling operations, DRBM helps to improve the overall platform performance and capability by providing distributed buoyancy along the length of the riser.

CBM offers high quality DRBM products up to 4000 m (13,000 ft) water depth. All CBM products are rigorously tested and conformed to the API 16F standard.

Distributed Buoyancy Modules

distributed_buoyancy DBM is composed of the buoyancy body and the internal clamp. The internal clamp is made of a high-strength composite material, and works to keep the module from movement. The buoyancy body is made of a composite syntactic foam core and a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) shell. Proper fasteners, such as composite/metallic straps and bolts, are used to secure the DBM in place.

Distributed buoyancy module (DBM) is an ideal buoyancy solution for flexibles, umbilical and other subsea cables and pipelines. It helps retaining the desired wave shape in the cable/pipeline under the challenging subsea environment.

CBM offers custom designed DBMs to meet any specific technical requirements .
